I'm upgrading my computer memory. I currently have about a two year old dell with 256 mb PC-800 DDRam. This memory is really expensive, but memory called PC-2700 and other types are much cheaper. is there a big difference? I know memory doesnt like to work with other memory that's different, so i figured i'd just can the stick of 256 i got in there now and just buy a gig or so of some other memory since that'd be cheaper. how can i tell if my computer is comptabible with pc-2700, or pc 3200 memory. thanks for any help
Well I fyour motherboard supports PC-800 (RDRAM/RIMM) memory modules, it won't support DDR-modules. You'll have to get a new motherboard (not recommended since you have a Dell), or buy more RDRAM.
