When I start up my computer it always stops when the desktop comes up and a window pops up saying words to the effect....RunDLL Error The application WildTangent failed to run becaues the file couldn't be found...or something like that. As far as I know WildTangent was some games that I had on the hard drive that I eleted a while back. Then not to long ago I downloaded Adaware, ran some scans and I believe WildTangent got scanned and quarentined....Soooo...I went back intot the quarentined items and attempted to reload Wild..said it did...but I keep getting the error window. How do I go into the part of the computer that automatically runs things at startup. I guess that would disable it...correct???

    Windows XP.

Also it's taking longer than usual for webpages to load up the past few days. I've updated Norton, Adaware, and even Earthlink has some Spyware that I run...everything seems to be clean.

Start > control panel > startup

(make sure you're viewing control panel in classic view - the button to press to switch to classic is in the top left just underneath the nav bar of category view)

once you're in the startup console deselect "WildTangent" from where-ever it occurs in any of the 6 tabbed lists. restart.

OK...I went to Start>control panel, switched to classic...then there wasn't anything that said startup.

Toasted, he only has startup.cpl when he installed it, it's 3rdparty software.

    http://www.mlin.net/StartupCPL.shtml

Use that one or Windows' registry editor

Go Run... type regedit to start the registry editor.

search for "wildtangent" and delete every entry you find.
Hit F3 to continue searching until all entries are found.

I did as you say within my own windows...and still get the same rresult. I'm sure I'm not doing it right since I am an idiot when it comes to these types of problems. I'm good at getting my e-mail and getting on to talkbass.

You do know you can use the ALT+PrintScreen key combo to snap a pic of just the forefront window? That'll save you from redacting taskbar icons.

    Just a friendly FYI. :)
