concerned, inlet problems on my bass

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by terms bassist, Dec 13, 2001.

  1. Ok, I’m a bit concerned here, I got my new bass about 2 months ago. It’s a good quality bass, sounds awesome. But every now then the inlet gets really loose and when I take my lead out, The inner part of it falls back into the bass and the outside bit falls on to the ground “obviously”. This only happens ever few weeks or so, so I’m not to worried about going it fixed or anything and it’s not really a big deal at the moment, I just open up the back and reattach it. But I am concerned that doing this all the time might have some bad effects on my bass over time? And I want to know why this would be happening? thanks

The nut that threads onto the input jack is simply coming loose. Try putting a drop of Loctite on the threads, and tighten it up. Should solve the problem.
