Almost all 2x10 cabinets (with the exception of Peavey) are rated at 8 ohms. And every replacement 10" bass speaker I have seen is rated at 8 ohms. Can someone explain this to me?
any 8 ohm 210 cab has either 4 ohm drivers wired in series or 16 ohm drivers in parallel. There are lots of those drivers out there. many companies have drivers made for them to their specs by the big speaker companies like eminince. These drivers may not always be available for sale raw to the consumer.
Why not make them commercially available though? Drivers fail. It would make sense to have them readily available to the consumer when this happens.
