Confused: The Ampeg SVT sound and the low-mids thing

    IMO the baxandall eq that Ampeg uses in their amps is as good as it gets. It's simple, and it's effective. If you want more bass, mids, or highs, simply boost them, or slightly cut the other frequencies. And a little boost or cut goes a long way IME. If you want a mid scooped sound, cut the mids. Or you can activate the Ultra Low and Ultra High buttons, -instant mid scoop.

    It's my uneducated opinion, but the 810E plays a part in the low mids thing associated with a SVT. The way the 810 rolls off the extreme low end has to also somehow produce a bit of a low mids "bump". Just my guess anyway.

    Quite impressive for a 50 year old design to still be so prominent in bass amplification IMO.
