Conk 4. Should I get it?

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by B8ssMan89, Sep 18, 2004.

  1. Hey, I've been thinking aobut gettin me a Conklin GT4.
I can get a brand new one for 599. Should I get it?
My uncle has GT7 and I played it. And I absolutly fell in love with it. Are the GT4's a good investment?

If its the newer version with Barts and slap switch, cool, but I bought my GT-7 cheaper than that, only go for it if its mint, and I advise you to play it to check the fretwork, I've seen some tales on the web of GTs needing a fretjob in some cases, I made one to mine as well.

  3. If you mean to ask "are they worth $599", then the answer is yes. If you mean to ask "will they appreciate in value", then the answer is no.

I have a GT-4 and I think it's a lot of bass for the money. It plays great, has active electronics, 2 humbuckers, and 24 frets. So it's not your typical P or J clone. The fit and finish are excellent.

Bottom line: if you fell in love with GT7 and you want a 4-string, you can't go wrong with the GT4.

    Good luck,

    Randy
