I'm really digging Conklin's custom top basses, they have some really original designs available over there. I'd like to play one or even buy one but they are super pricey. So I was just wondering if any has one or has played them, how they play/sound, and if they are worth the 4-6000 bucksl.
here are some shots of mine... and they are everything that everyone says they are. words don't capture how happy I am with mine!
Bill's incredible luthiery has already been showcased but he is also a true gentleman and a great businessman. Just email him and find out!
the 10 string weighs in at 16.5 pounds. no lightweight but it's phenomenal balance don't make it seem ungainly. I can play two 2 hour sets with no fatigue or discomfort. the 8 string is made of walnut and tips the scale at 14.5 pounds. I have played more than 6 hours straight with it on and not felt the slightest bit tired. from the lows, Stew
wow, twice in one week {} those are all custom shop instruments, and they are all worth what i paid for them, easily.
sorry, man. I just can't resist a bad pun. something in my genetic makeup, I'm afraid. I am such a doof'... from the punned lows, Stew
i think if i got a bass with more than 6 strings, id add lower strings before i went higher. it seems odd (IMO) that the tendency is to go higher if i ever get another 6 string, itll be tuned C# and up
