Does anyone have any idea why Bill does'nt have a 6 string model for his groove tools line? I've always wondered this since he has 4,5 and 7's. I'd really like a GT 6 since I'm not big into 5's and the low F# on a 7 I don't think would be my thing. There must be a market for them I would think. Anyone know?

    No.. only 4, 5 , and 7 strings..

    Just go for a 7..

FYI.. the seventh string is a high F not a low F#

    ;)

well, bill was just about to release a marco mendoza sig 6 string groove tools, but sumfin' happened. long story short, marco mendoza plays fernandes basses. what's up with that? i have NO CLUE. here's a pic or two of the mendoza bass, though. looked like it woulda been tres cool.

Really? I always thought it was a Low F# (lamens terms-one string thicker and deeper than the B string). This is wrong? So a 7 string from the factory is tuned B,E,A,D,G,C,F?
I always assumed it was F#,B,E,A,D,G,C. learn something new everyday.....:meh: Thanx Prog

That bass does indeed get my juices flowing neptoon. Mabye if I send Bill a small white envelope with a HUGE amount of cash inside he'll release it anyway. Or mabye beg "Please Bill, Please....shine your shoes, need a kidney, how bought my first born.....just gimme".

Its a shame to cause if he would release it I'd have to join the conklin crew here. After I was initiated and given my complementary jacket and silly hair cut of course*fixer runs out of town at full speed before 'ol nail noggin can find him* :bag: :smug:

well, yeah, but he could build it to the specs that the mendoza sig was going to be. the pic i posted is a custom prototype that bill built. that's what the mendoza gt-6 was going to be modeled after.

so, he gets his peavey on now, eh? he woulda been better off with bill, i think.

What I meant was that he wouldn't be able to get it for the same prices as the Groove Tools line..

Which I might add bums me out to no end. Thanx though guys. I'm not finacially looking to go the custom route right now cause I still have a custom Huff on the way. I really like the Groove Tools though I just wish they had a 6 string in that line. Great quality for little hurt on pocket book.;)

WARNING THE FOLLOWING POST IS OFF TOPIC, BUT SORTA ON SO READ IT ANYWAYS...

while we're discussing the gt line i have a question. Why aren't the 5 and 7 string 35 inch scale(they are 34)??? from the reviews ive read people say the absolutely only thing wrong with the bass is a muddy e and b string, and i believe a 35 inch scale would fix that problem correct? anyways, i just thought its odd that such a high quality instrument wouldn't have whats pretty much a standard feature in 5 or more string basses now-a-days.

I have two GT-7s and have no problem with B & E string articulation...

The only complaint I've ever had is with the preamp.. Wish they'd come with a 3 band.. No problem I can always bump mid on my amp/preamp/board.. etc..

ok thats reassuring to hear. i should have known, as the master luthier that he is bill could probably build (or in the case of the gt-7 design or whatever) a 20 inch scale bass and have a low f# ring crystal clear ;)

Agreed on the tight B and E string for my old GT-BD7 (which HAD the 3-band ;)). Plenty articulate.
