Took the new one out for a gig this past weekend.. GAWD!!! What a HUGE sound!!!!
did yer wenge get a bit chilly?
It's cold round here!
It was FARGIN COLD!!!!!
Spring in the deep south....
Mark.... what's the word on the next Bass Summit gathering??
no word yet; I put it up for discussion date-wise, but haven't gotten much response.
Guess I'll try again soon. I'm ready whenever...
very cool - i've never seen a fretless gt 7 in wine before.
Nice top on that one, amigo. Congrats.
Like I said in another post... One thing about this bass that is different from the fretted model I have (aside from being toof-less) is that the stock preamp sounds great in it!!! I dont know why... I eventually put an Aguilar in the fretted one but I'm leaving this one as-is...
Im still weirded out about that...
Oh well, as long as it sounds good huh??
Remind me of the differences, what was it you didn't like tonally about the fretted?
Just that the sound was very anemic...... thin and weak... No a$$ at all!!!
maybe it needs some vittamin and minimal fornification?
Truly, the ONLY difference between them is the fingerboard..... The fretless is ebanol where the fretted is purpleheart...
Could something that "minor" have that much of a difference in overall sound???
T'is a revelation to me!!
After the gigs this weekend.. I could use some of that too!!!
is that the same model as the ones for sale on misician's friend?do you know of any others for sale? dave
Yeah those are the same... I think musician's friend also has the Bill Dickens model too. Bass Central carries them also. http://www.basscentral.com
I ordered mine directly from Bill Conklin.
bass central only had fretted models last time i checked and mf only has the purpleheart fboard.looking for phenolic board.wonder how long thru bill c. whats the scoop w/your dp?
The expectations are great when you pack a smooth bore 7 shooter.
Purpleheart and ebanol are the only types of material used on the Groove Tools series. P.H. on fretted models, and ebanol on fretless... When I contacted Bill he said the distributor had several fretless in wine red only finish (like the one in the pic). Give him a call at his shop.

I really had expected to have my DP by now... Not sure what the delay is. I havent received any updates from him in a while.
