    Hi,

I picked up a Conklin GT5 from a TBer a while back, and I love the bass, but the Conklin labelled MightyMite pickups are a bit, well, bland. I'm looking for suggestions and/or experiences others might have with swapping these pickups as I don't have any in this size to play with so I'll have to spend money to do it and would like to minimize outlay if possible.

Preamp will also be changed to one of my own design, which is very clean and transparent. The closest commercial pre similar I've tried would be the Aguilars.

Bass is a large swamp ash body, with a maple top and a wenge/puprleheart neck with a PH board. I'm looking for a 'broadest tonal range, match as many tunes as possible' as this will likely end up as my general purpose 5 string for classic rock covers, some metal and 'jam band' stuff.

    Thinking about
    - EMG's, but unsure which model(s)
    - SD ASB5 active or SSB5 passive
    - Villex; already have sets in other basses and like them
    - Barts, but which model in this size, 75M45 or M45CBC

    Cheers
