connecting a pre-amp to a speaker?

Discussion in 'Amps and Cabs [BG]' started by christobass 416, Nov 6, 2005.

  1. i have a crappy old guitar amp combo, and the speaker is shot. i was wondering if it was possible to connect a pre-amp to a speaker. i would remove the box that the all the knobs and inputs are on, and the speaker from the old guitar combo. i would buy a pre-amp, and a speaker byitself. so, is this possible, or is it a no-go?
if i were to buy these two things:

    and

would it be possible to connect them?

any feedback at all would be appreciated.

You have to get a power amp to connect the preamp to.

This is correct; preamps don't output a high enough signal to give you audible sound.
