  1. ....I thought this was of some interest.

What turns out to be for ****s and giggles becomes remarkably surprizing that this seemingly endless list of stars not only sell their talents, they sold off being able to keep their own names (at least to the public).

That was pretty neat actually. It just makes me wonder though as to why "ethnic" names seem to be viewed as a negative..?
I can almost see changing a first name to something more trendy etc etc but a last name is part of one's heritage. Having to deny one's heritage to make oneself more "sell-able" is sort of sad. Except for Olivia Wilde (I think it was her at least) who's last name was "Cockburn"...yikes. That one I can see changing..

  3. We have a Cockburn St in the middle of Edinburgh.

Tourists love it, but few seem to realise the pronunciation is Co-Burn, maybe I'm just a spoilsport :p

  7. Happiness isn't a destination, it is a mindset.

Until the whole world is happy, Id say for some it certainly is a destination.

I commented on neither, you stated your happiness derives from recognition, the need for recognition is driven by the ego.

  10. Whatever. if wanting to achieve goals and actually be recognized for the things (such as music) that I release to the public is a crime, sue me.

  11. If you are chasing after something in the hope that it brings happiness to your life and you get that thing, you will quickly find out that you are still miserable. You can't find happiness, you need to be happiness.

You seem to like putting words in my mouth. There is nothing wrong with wanting to acheive goals.
I didnt say recognition is a crime, but it is a self serving desire. Desire leads to suffering. Good luck to you on that, though, I wish you the best.

Happiness isn't something you can share with someone who isn't. What it can do is get you popped in the nose by somebody not seeking it.

Good to know. If I have to get popped in the nose to make the world a better place it'd be worth it.

Anyways, ultimately, isnt everyone seeking happiness? What a wonderful world it must be to seek out misery.

These celebrity folk are pretty darn creative with their names though. It's like an art form, haha.

  19. Deriving happiness from the approval/validation of others is a recipe for misery.

  20. Absolutely not.
