The top of the GI forum is a mess. There are so many stickies that room for display of more recent threads is restricted.

I'm thinking of clearing up a little and putting most of the stickies in one thread as well as linking to some other useful info in the TB Wiki.

Please vote in the poll to make your opinion known on this.

    No carrots option. ;)

Frankly, I'm not a big fan of stickies in the first place, so I'm all for anything that reduces the number of them. When I look at the threads stickied in this forum (as well as many other forums), I have a hard time understanding why most of those particular threads are any more sticky-worthy than many other threads on the same topic; they seem like rather arbitrary choices.

I think it would be adequate to have no more than two stickies: one for moderators to use to post rules, warnings, and other kinds of "official" information about forum usage, and perhaps another along the lines you suggested: i.e., a kind of FAQ or index containing links to threads or wikis about popular topics.

I was hoping to see more posts in this thread: I'm really interested to know what other TBers think about how stickies could most usefully and appropriately be utilized, in this particular thread and elsewhere. Or maybe that's a general topic of discussion that belongs in a different forum?

Agree. A rules sticky and a link to FAQ is the way to go.

It looks like this is generally worth doing - I have some time later this week and will get it sorted.
