I posted this in the main bass forum but perhaps it is more relevant here.

Semi-hollow / fretless / piezo / EADGC is what I am all about.

Tried a ton of basses. Started with and ended with Turner Ren basses. I have three: 2 fretless/1 fretted.

The five string Turner basses come 35" scale stock with a low B. I have always prefered 34" so it was time to mod. Rick wouldn't sell me new necks so I had to get out the saw.

Cut one inch off the bottom of each neck. Removed the lined fingerboard. Glued new unlined fingerboards on and re-installed the neck to the body. Heaven :D

I have TI acousticores on one of the basses for the round wound sound and LaBella black nylon flat wounds on the other. Two very different fretless sounds give me all I need.

My fretted five string remains 35" for obvious reasons.
