Converting Japanese Fender P

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by Ruud Das, May 29, 2001.

  1. I was just wondering, I have a 2 year old Japanese Fender Precision and I'm thinking about adding a pickup, and maybe even changing the neck to a fretless with rosewood fingerboard (I't now maple).
Does this sound like a good idea? Let me know please.

Adding a neck pickup (a jazzbass pickup) could give you more sound-options to choose from.
So if you think your bass sounds limited, that would be a good idea.

About changing that neck...if the maple neck is a good one (stable, blabla), I'd leave it on and buy another bass. Maybe you'll discover that you don't like playing fretless, and then you've got that thing on your bass.

But if you're satisfied with this bass (I would), then I would get another amp. That WILL sound different.
