Cool Blues Tunes

    I got the blues. I want to learn some 12 bar blues stuff and actually play a song live with my band. Any cool songs one could play and sing to that incorporates 12 bar blues at the same time is not crazy to sing with? Maybe just list some cool blues tunes that you recommend.

  7. As a singing bassist in a blues band, I find some of the easiest ones to sing to are shuffles with a walking line, since the bass is usually on the beat and not synchopated.

    examples:
    Jimmy Thackery - Bad News
    Jimmy Thackery - Hundreds to Ones

    Also fun are those where the vocal alternates with a punchy lick:

    King Biscuit Boy - Mean Old Lady

    These are loosely based on 12-bar patterns.
