Yesterday i tried the Danelectro Cool Cat Drive V2. Great light overdrive sound with my Peavey Tour 700 and GK NEO212-II. Sound is real warm and tubey like a overdriven tubeamp. It's a keeper. Settings: - Drive very low (8-9 o'clock) - Volume matching the Bypass Volume - Tone (12 o'clock) The rotary switch inside at lowest setting, dip switch "off".
Similarly, I've had some great results with both of the transparent overdrive versions. Underrated pedals
The first Transparent OD version was a Paul C Timmy clone, and the Drive, IIRC, an OCD. It was so obvious they had to slightly change it and release the V2. I'd rather give my money to P. Cochrane, the Timmy looks better and is not expensive anyway..
I've never heard how this pedal sounds on bass, but I have heard how the transparent overdrive sound. It sounded pretty cool on bass. I do wonder how it compares to the cool cat drive.
