Cool Pop Song Bass Lines

Discussion in 'Miscellaneous [BG]' started by ksandvik, Dec 29, 2011.

  1. I head David Bowie's China Town on a big good PA system last night and realized that the bass line was really clever. Beginning had a china-like scale structure and all the twists and turns between the section made the bass line essential for that song. I've played that in the eighties but it was fun re-hashing the lines today.

Laurent Thibault was the excellent bass player on the original record and me thinks it sounded like a well-mixed Precision.

Any other cool pop base lines out there (sure there are plenty?)

How about a bunch of early Duran Duran songs...stuff from Rio for example. Lots of pop stuff from the 80's had some really cool bass actually.
