Too many to list...
Stanley Clarke seems like a cool guy...
They all got it going on.
I haven't met many pro musicians personally. The best experience I ever had was meeting Watt after a Firehose show back in, uhhh, '89, I think? I was wearing my Minutemen t-shirt, so he gave me a hug, then spent spent several minutes shooting the s*** with me and my brother, and had a beer with us. Incredibly cool.
I don't know about the music "industry" but the guys from Kings of Nuthin' and Dan O'Day from River City Rebels are pretty cool guys, I talked with them at a show my friend's band did.
Billie Joe Armstrong,
The guys from Incubus seem like a nice gang.
ok, Billy Sheehan!!!!!!!
The guys from King's X are pretty down to earth.
I've spent time talking to Doug, Jerry and Ty, on different occasions, and all three are very humble and just real nice guys.
(kinda going into bands now)
System of a Down
Suprisingly, all the heavy, "bad" bands, are nice. Oh yeah, I was going to put down Pennywise, but they aparently are realy pricks
Some really cool ones I've met:
BB King & Band
Allen Woody (RIP)
Dixie Chicks (girls & band are great...crew SUCKS!)
John Lee Hooker (RIP)
Whoops, sorry, I thought this thread was about me.
Oh...I forgot one....
Bob Dylan - During his recent Australian tour when he found out how much the promoters were charging for tickets, he threatened to cancel the entire tour unless the cut the price of tickets a lot and forced them to introduce cheap student tickets. Thanks Bob!
Eddie Vedder & Pearl Jam - Turning their back completely on the whole commercial and business side of music, no video clips, interviews or anything, just music.
Leonard Cohen - Spent the last 6 years living in a buddhist monestary, emerging to record one of his best albums yet.
Radiohead - Put their music ahead of their wallets.
David Gilmour - Eh... he's just cool.
I have to second Victor Wooten and Stanley Clarke.
I met the guys from Spyro Gyra many many moons ago and they were really cool guys. Same for Jeff Lorber.
I've heard some good and some bad things about them. I've heard Fletcher is a total moron and jerk and no one likes him. But the rest of the band are supposed to be alright. Then again, I don't know how things are now.
referring only to people who i met in person and inerviewed:
bumpus and left undone are kind of phat phunktion's "sister-bands", super sweet people in both bands, great bands too!!!
average white band is all very cool, they even said we kicked their ass opening for them (not true, but a nice statement )
all the flecktones are awesome. jeff coffin offered to take me up on stage after the show and show me how all his sax effects work, but i had to go
there are only a few local musicians who i don't like...most of them are very very cool. the madison music scene may be shrinking a little, but the comraderie between the musicians is still there!!!
The guys from the Swinging Utters are way cool
Builders and bass type folks...
Dan Lakin & crew
