In the spirit of the "Choose a Superpower" thread, how about: if you could have a working model of one piece of "Star Trek" technology, what would it be and why?

Definitely the Holodeck from The Next Generation era. Put yourself in any situation, as any character. Even be the bass player in the band of you choice!

Isn't all currency electronic in trek? I only just recently started getting into it, but certainly I haven't seen much currency except for the odd reference to the past, or time-travel episode.

Transporter- that would save so much time.

  12. Warp drive. With warp drive you could explore the galaxy, and plus everything on the ship was powered by the warp core anyways so none of you guys would have enough power. :p

It is set in a utopia where there is no need for money - there have been several episodes where Picard has explained this to others. So there was an episode where somebody from the past was asking Picard what he should do - go into business and make money etc.? Picard explained how there was no need for money or acquisition in their society and that everybody devoted themselves to self-improvement!

Of course the greedy Ferengi are obsessed with Latinum - but they are characterised as evil money-grubbing capitalists. Obviously in Star Trek - the good guys are all Communists!! ;)
