what are your thoughts on it? I'm really thinking of saving up to buy one but i'm not sure.
I love it.
If I was to buy a cheap bass it would probably be this one.
Very good electronics and pickups, beautiful and original design, giant sound, comfortable playing.
For fretless, I'd say go for it. Fretted, consider it. There are plenty of 4-strings and some 5-strings in that price range. But anyways, the fretless sound of the 5 is just pure growl. Try em out first, definitely.
i got a chance to play one recently. the one thing i didn't like was the weight- it was just too light, felt like i had to be careful. is it luthite ?
Yes, it has a luthite body.
BigBohn, they discontinued the fretless 5.
What? The Cort Curbow model? I know the Artisan is toast, but the Cort Curbow 5 fretless? I'll check the Cort site.
edit: checked out the site, it is still there and still available in the US, unlike the Artisan B5FL, which is what I think you confused it with.
Great basses, especially fretless, i love my fretless 6.
luthite it is.
I've played the six string and liked it alot, I would have bought it if I had the money to spare but I still need to save up for a more powerfull amp before I worry about a forth bass....
I have heard from two dealers locally that they can't order them any more.
Hmm. I recently (4 days ago) received a quote from Greg Curbow for a customized C. Curb 5fl, so that means that they must still make them. Unless they discontinued it within those 4 days, I would doubt they actually cut it for good.
Cort still is and always will make the Curbow/Cort Bass in both the Fretted and Fretless Models,
In 4, 5 and 6 String Versions!
The only change in the Lineup in the discontinuation
of the "Woodgrain" finish!
Mars Music will (So they Say) stock only the Gloss Back, Satin Red and Satin Blue.
ALL other finish options...
Candy Apple Red
Candy Apple Blue
Can be had at all other Cort/Curbow retailers including My WEB Site, www.curbow.com
I can and do stock, on occasion, Factory Prototypes and "One Off's" of all models...
Including the "Satin" Mars Colors!
Thanks for dropping by and giving us the straight story, Greg!
Didn't they also discontinue the Burl finish on the 4's a long time ago? All I know is I got a discount on my fretless 4 because of it.
That woodgrain finish looks nice
great sounding and playing, but the one thing i dont like is how uncomfortable it is when you sit down with it. it won't stay on my leg!
