  1. it's NOT a Warwick Rockbass.. according the dealer it's called a " rock axe 5 ".. they're real cheap tho.. about $ 225

Another dildo bass! I thought they were so ugly that nobody would copy them - just goes to show that they'll copy anything! If there's money to be made! ;)

    Oh my.....

I thought that Rockbass was sort of a cliched name, but Rock Axe takes the cake.
  4. Alltho you have to admit that a Mohagony (sp?) bass for $ 225 is very interesting..

b.t.w. i made a typo.. it's ROK AXE, not ROCK AXE

That makes it even worse! I vote this as worst bass of the year - well , so far, of those I have seen - although that pink abomination runs it close!! ;)

I belive they are Korean made..

    ;) Pretty interesting-
I bet Warwick's attorney's are in a meeting right now!

On the positive side, assuming this thing is somewhat playable and has decent intonation,
if you're a 16-year old beginning bassist working at Burger King, what the he**?

You can now be just like Jack Bruce or Cracker or whoever these whippersnappers listen to:) !

No harm, no foul- Probably better to save a little
bit more & get a better quality axe, that's what I'd do...
OTOH, hand that thing to Stanley Clarke, loooook out!

  12. will check it out saturday, stand by for review gentlemen :)
  13. Right..

    I've played 3 of them..

    - A corvette-like model
    - A Thumb-like model
    - Another Thumb-like model, but with different pickup config..

My first and only reaction was " holy sh.. ! "

These basses go for $ 225 to $ 500, but they feel, play and look more like $ 500 to $ 1000 basses.

I was least to say very impressed with the clarity of the lows ( no muddy " B " like most cheap basses ) and the good highs.

The finish was real typical.. it's dark wood, but with a very thin layer of clear-finish over it.. not wax-finish like the warwicks.. this is in fact very good.. you have the wood-look, but not the worries of waxing the bass..

the thumb-lookalikes even had the warwick-type bridge, but no just-a-nut.

The neck was a bit thinner than a typical warwick, but still the bass feels very solid.

Along sides with the OLP's and rockbass'es, these are very good budget-basses. :)

  15. Never had that problem.. i don't do alchohol ;)
  16. I just thought i'd mention that my friend who's 16 and working at Burger King just bought a bass today, i thought the irony of the situation was fun.

my first bass was a Rok Axe jazz copy, and I'm actually interested in finding another to mod.

I bought that bass for $88 back in 98... It was worth every penny... lol

    Wow, 6-year old thread.

Man I was a 10-year old and obsessed with football/baseball/basketball not bass. How times have changed...
