I did a search for $$ amounts for the cost of a fret job but didn't glean much useful information, so perhaps the luthiers here, as well as those who have recently paid for a fret job, can help.

For an instrument with dished frets on, say, the first 5 frets, how much should a fret job cost? I've had this done before, but it was so long ago that I don't know what it might cost nowadays. Thanks!

I just paid $400 for a very fine quality refret and a new bone nut. Thats probably toward the top end of what you'll see on pricing, but you often get what you pay for ;)

If you've got enough meat left in the frets, you might just need a level, crown, and polish, which will be much less expensive.
