If I buy a Geddy Lee Jazz, could I install a pre-amp? Just wondering.
Of course! The best no-hassle option would be a j-retro which requires no mods. Have you seen Nino Brown's? That crazy guy slapped a Sadowsky (I believe) in there.

I use the Retro's in basses that I build and they are easily one of the finest preamps on the market. The fact that they can fit in a Jazz cavity is just icing on the cake. John East has done his homework on these things.
