crack on bass

    i have a peavey milestone four, were the neck and the baody meets it looks like it is cracked is that normal or is that the finish cracking or what? the crack has been there for a while i thought i would just ask :confused:

    Might want to put this in the basses forum or the luthier's forum. Better response than the Gear for Sale forum.

    Do you know if the wood's cracking or just the finish?

  5. The Milestone is a bolt-on neck so that pretty much eliminates the chance of any real structural damage. I'm taking a guess here - Is the crack coming from the corners where the sides of the neck pocket meet the bottom of the pocket on both sides of the neck? If the crack is there, it's a very common finish flaw that happens to even the best instruments sometimes. This is in areas that have the thinnest amount of body material and a little flexing or even expansion from heat or cold could cause it.

    I wouldn't worry at all. :)
