I saw this one on CL yesterday. It's listed for $400. At first I thought I was posting it to get a laugh, but it's starting to grow on me a bit.
"This is a custom built Bass. I used all Fender P bass parts and neck. Perfect ballance and plays like a dream.... Very cool body cuts. Fits like a glove. Great light action... Gold in color with Silver accents. One of a kind. Better in person than the pictures can relay..."

Creative for sure. Could pass it off as a Buzzard prototype.

You are right - it does have a certain "Something". If you want to play a truly unique bass, this is the way to go, yes??

Love the PU cover as bridge cover.

IMO, you have to at least go play that.

... my only concern would be that the 'Fender' donor he used may have been a Squier Affinity ... unique for sure ...

Edit to add: ... Dave, you have a PM ...

I'm not really the "wild and crazy guy" type, but if I was, I'd check that out. The contours kinda won me over.

I'd love to try it out, but 45 minutes of driving (each way) is out of my range for something I won't buy. You don't see a lot of gold basses, but this is making me want one.

Yeah, even if the guy used cheap parts, he's not getting much for his time in building it. Maybe it was just an experiment he ended up not liking.
  13. Neat shape, but I see one concern. What was the donor body?
If it was a P or J-bass, that bridge was NEVER that high up the body.
That neck won't intonate correctly unless it's still a proper 34" scale.
Let's hope he did his own body...

    I like it.
  15. A quick measure on pic 1 confirms that it'll intonate.

For $400, I'd definitely get this.
    Very creative design.

    I would rock that thing!!!!!!!!!!!!!

............. but only in my bedroom when no one else was home.

It's kind of like a chubby wom........... oh never mind.
  18. $400.00, huh?

Nope, I'd say closer to $100.00, and that's being generous.

That's not even taking into account that it's friggin' hideous.
