    Hey Guys

I have a CRATE amp with a speaker jack on the front right along side of a headphone jack. Can either of these be used to get a signal to my sound card for recording?

  2. there's a chance that the speaker jack may work but probably not.
  3. You could use the headphone jack for a signal, although if you have an effects loop, i'd recommend using the fx send jack. But definately do not use the Speaker Jack

Just what does the speaker jack do and exactly why would you not use it? Too much power?

Yes, WAY too much power. The voltage can fry your sound card if you're unlucky.
