    Hello,

I have a Crate BT220 and I have problems with the speaker. Once I turn on the combo and begin to play the speaker works but after a couple of seconds it goes out. The headphone input also stops working when the speaker stops working.

I tried to plug the bass into the other inputs but none of that worked. I also tried to bridge the effect input and output to try and see if that worked but nothing. This is my only amp and I would really like to repair it.

    Tuner works
Most of the pots are scratchy

    Any suggestions?

Thanks for the advice you guys.

I'll do all of this today and see what happens.

Hopefully this works if not I'll keep trying to figure it out.

I think I messed up big time.

I cleaned the pots and connections with an electrical connection cleaner. Waited about an hour to plug it back in. When I turned the combo on I heard a vibration coming from the amp and a flash from the circuit board. I immediately turned the amp off and disconnected it from wall outlet.

Now it won't even turn on.

This amp is over seven years old. It served me well for those seven years. Time to move on I think.

  4. What was the cleaner you used? Some will leave a heavy residue in which case the amp shorted and blew the fuse. A little goes a long way and the amp should always be cleaned of dust first. Chances are very good something very major just went badly wrong. Sorry...

I used the CRC QD Electronic Cleaner.

  6. That should have been okay although it carries no lube for the pots. Could have just been coincidence the amp finally failed completely. :)
