What does everyone think of Crate Amps and Basses?
I've never seen a Crate bass. I've seen Create guitars that came in guitar packages when I worked @ Sam Ash. I don't think that they make basses but I could be wrong.
Crate bass amps are pretty good reliable amps but for a little more money, you could get better suck as some Ampeg, SWR & some other amps.
Your signature is awesome. I heard David Letterman say it the other day & I almost peed in my pants!!!!!

I know they make basses because my friend has one, i just wanted to kno the quality, because if it is a good qualtiy bass, i might look into one.
P.S. I watch Dave like everynight, when he sed that, i almost fell out of my chair laughing.
Crate = Maker of lousy Bass Amps.
Crate = is known for that in the Bass world, and for creating the Blue Voodoo guitar Amp wich is very good.
Crate = Do you know many Crate Basses?
Conclusion = They Suck.
This is an example of my ultra-illogical Logic aproach. But it works.
Crate basses are found only in beginner bass/amp/cord/picks/video packages.
They are comparable to Samick's cheapest stuff, or Rogue. Probably made in Samick's Chinese or Indonesian factory.
The thing is, Crate's monopolized the tiny bass amp market; I've seen a lotta people with bx-15s. It was my first amp which had until pretty recently, and it wasn't that bad.
Actually, I have a 100 watt Crate amp, and it has really good sound, at least for me. And I tried everything in that wattage and/or price level, and the Crate fit my sound that I like so perfect, whether finger style, pick or slap. I enjoy the amp, and its a great recording tool for my 4track and loud enough for my band. I will be adding an extra cab soon for more volume, but when practicing, I use it on like 2 and that is more than enough to get the neighbors calling(no, I don't live in an appartment!). So I like them, but your results may vary....But definetly try them out!
i second that. SWR WM15/12 or Ampegs, try em out
I personally really love my Crate amps. Sure, they aren't built like SWR's, and no, they don't sound like Eden's. But you're getting a better amplifier than the prices would leave you to believe. Actually, I've run my BX-15 into a 2 ohm load (it's rated at 4 ohms) for over two hours straight before with all the controls cranked and it didn't have any problems at all - so they obviously can't be that crappily built. I've never had any problems at all with either my BX-15 or my BX-100. I guess it all comes down to what you like. If I had to do it over again, I would probably have gotten a Gallien-Kruger or an Ampeg just because of the better resale level and the extra options (such as running external speakers, etc.). But that's not to say that I don't like my Crates. They certainly DO NOT suck.
I use a Crate KX-160 head and some Crate cab (maybe a 2x15.) It works pretty good. I think the head is a Keyboard amp. Its loud enough, has 4 or 6 inputs, and isnt THAT big. But it just doesnt sound...right...to me.
Another user of the BX-100 here. I bought it because it sounded better than either Fender or Ampeg versions of the 1x15 combo, and it cost less. Hey, any amp that gets the thumbs up from Jeff Berlin is OK in my book.
