Crazy P-Bass at Store

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by bassmanbigs, Jul 13, 2013.

  1. I found a Mexican P Bass at a local shop while im on the road playing. The "Made in Mexico" and the serial number are both scratched off. The body is pretty banged up, there are several places where the paint is chipped. There is a hum in the electronics and the pots arent even screwed in tight.

Now think about how much you would pay for it....

    They are saying $625!!

Im going back there Monday to talk to the owner and get that price down. How much should i offer?

$150.00, more than that and I wouldn't bother.
I say $150.00 because it gives you room to put $100.00 into it to make it decent.
you can find mim's for $200.00-$300.00 that are ready to play and need nothing.

Yep, if the neck and body are solid, $150 gives you plenty of room to fix up the electronics and some new strings and come out with a decent beater bass.

Obviously the guy that put that price on it has been reading talkbass and knows that P basses are still the best. You'd be a fool not to pay that for a Fender P bass!
