Crown CE1000 - is this a good amp to use for a power amp for my rig?

Discussion in 'Amps and Cabs [BG]' started by peteroberts, Mar 3, 2003.

  1. I have a Crown CE1000...1100 watts bridged into 4 ohms...I use it for a small PA system but am thinking it will work when I go to a separate pre/power configuration. Has anyone used it as a bass power amp (like behind a Kern 777)? Any comments would be appreciated.

I recently married a Kern 777 to a Crown CE2000. Pretty impressive. If your back can stand the weight, they're known to be good, reliable amps. I see no reason why a CE1000 wouldn't work out well in a bass rig.

As long as the Kern puts out a +4dBu signal, you're in good shape.

My Pearce preamp is a tad weak (+2dBu) and my back a lot weak, so I switched to a factory custom PLX2402.

A good friend of mine swears by his CE-2000 for powering his Acme Low B2s...

    It should serve you well!

It does, in fact, from both the 1/4" and balanced outputs.
