Curious about MEC pickups

Discussion in 'Pickups & Electronics [BG]' started by pesci1313, Jun 21, 2001.

  1. I'm wondering what people don't like about the MEC pickups in warwicks? whats wrong with them? how do they stack up against other pickups, in particular EMG, Bartolinis, and Duncans. Just wondering cause i love warwick tone and i am curious how big of a part the MEC's play in it.

well.. to answer your question.. MEC Pickups are pretty good, just that they are a little weak. I plugged my Salas with Seymour Duncan Basslines in after playing my Warwick with MEC Preamp and Bartolini pickups.. Salas sounded much louder and stronger. MECs aren't bad at all, they are just weak. and to answer your question about the sound of warwick. most of the tones from the exotic, heavy wood they use..
