Everyone has seen or had a cab with rat fur, tolex, or duratex. But what other things are people doing out there? Been really thinking about mod podgeing some fabric to a cab for a custom covering! Anyone mod podged one?
I've considered using real wool tweed fabric because it comes in some cool color combinations. It would have to be lacquered to keep off the dirt and stains. Still might try that some day.
Tie dye would be pretty cool. Tapestries like we used to hang from the ceiling in the dorm rooms wouldn't be far behind.
I suggest you take a look at getting Duratex in the deep tint base and then picking a color you like.
I was thinking a pattern would be neat. Although those are great looking cabs I tend to be a little eccentric!
It comes with the territory, my fuzzy friend. Playing bass can result in such psychological trauma that you can't help but be eccentric.
Thanks! They are the greenboy DuallyT prototypes. The joker cab is mine, the Tux is going to an upright player. Mark Robertson at greenboy Audio and BNA Audio built them. Fuzzy, there are LOTs of cosmetic options you can look in to.
I have a PA cab that I covered in Hawaiian-shirt-style floral print fabric on a lark. Will photograph and post soon.
That's pretty rad, Fuzzy! I've messed around with some fabrics...they tend to add a bit of weight once you get a strong, protective coating over them, but it really does look interesting for sure
Here I am with my Greenboy 15Subs. The covering is plastic sparkle drum wrap. Stuff ain't cheap, about $125.00 per cab.But I get A LOT of compliments/comments.
