How about this, one low priced Delta bandsaw, a 30 dollar knife, a bastard file and alot of bloody knuckles and sweat. Let the other guys use the CNC machines..(ok, I would if I could afford it:)

Wood: any dry hardwood without cracks.
Tools: a jigsaw, a rasp, drill press, a router, several bits
Paint: leave it! Use Danish oil or something similar. Prettier and easier.

And get a job (as low end luthiers, perhaps;) )

Oh, get a book, too! Koch, Hiscock or Siminoff will help a lot.

    Go for it, go!

Uhh, yeah. I would recommend changing your location. Having something stupid like that is not gonna get you taken seriously by a lot of the members here that can and will help you out with your questions.

Just a bit of friendly advice, take it or leave it.:)
