any experts out there got any recommendation on who makes the nicest custom j-bass
Welcome to TB. I see this is your first post.
Can you give a little more info. eg. Budget where you live etc.
There are a lot of very good builders out there but more info will allow us to help you more.
You can also try the search facility which will bring up some threads of a similar nature to yours
I'm not a fan of Fender style basses at all, but if I was I'd get a Sadowsky or one of Nino's.
Those are some damned fine looking instruments, all of them.
I'd say either a Valenti (you get more bass than what you pay for) or a Sadowsky. But it is actualy pretty hard to suggest anything for you, with almost no information.
Then there's the truly custom J-inspired bass. Hmmm....Mark Eshenbaugh comes to mind
Mark makes a bass that's quite a departure from the Fender Jazz; a modern take on a classic.
Valenti, currently the best bass I've played and own. I'm just working up some money to buy more of his basses. Click my sig to see mine.
Another plug for Valenti.. Nino I'm sure will do you right!!
Also check out Mike Lull and Roger Sadowsky.
