I'm really excited to say my semi-custom Landing is being built. Jimmy Wilson is a top-notch luthier with excellent communication and I'm really looking forward to this. Jimmy keeps you updated with emails and pix along the build and answers question thoroughly and promptly. Speaking of excellent communication, Larry Pollock from Aero is making custom jazz pickups to make this the first passive jazz from Landing. Jimmy has in the past used either EMGs or DarkStars. This is more of a trial run to see if Landing and Aero might be able to make music together in the future :)

    Specs:

L30T jazz style bass (strat body)
    30.5” short scale
    Ash body
    Classic tri-tone finish
    Black hardware
Hard rock maple & rosewood neck
    1.5” at nut
    Black/white/black pickguard
4 in-line hipshot ultralite cloverleaf tuners
    Hipshot through-body black BRASS bridge
Aero custom 1/4 inch pole jazz pickups
Passive VVT with push pull series/parallel switch
    250K pots, 0.047 uF cap
    Around 8 lbs or under.

The first picture is the unfinished bass with stock hardware (the finished bass is going to be blacked out hardware).

The second and third pictures are before the black is added on the sunburst.

Sweet man !!! Great color. Jimmy's finishes are incredible.

I'd love to get another Landing myself. Jimmy contacted me about a shop bass he is putting together that I'm going to try to buy if I can come up with the funds.

Can't say that thought didn't cross my mind! I didn't expect him to give me a picture of the intermediate step. But the black burst with the black hardware is gonna look mean!

It's pretty much a fretless parts bass he is throwing together. One EMG HB pickup no pickguard.

Jimmy said 95% of the finish is done. He is still waiting for a pickguard with three holes from Roger at Jeannie's Pickguards and the pickups from Larry at Aero Instruments. Then comes the black hardware. :hyper:

Thanks guys. No sound clips, yet, as I don't have the bass yet :) No worries. I will make them. This is one of the first basses that Jimmy has done with passive jazz pickups. He usually uses active EMGs.

This is one of the most beautiful basses I've ever seen. Seriously. This just does it for me. The all-black hardware just puts it in a class by itself. Short scale is not my thing, but it's also not my bass. ;) I'd love to see this in a normal 34" scale.
I'd imagine this is a $2.5K+ instrument? That finish alone has got to be worth half that. Congratulations and please post some clips when you get a chance!:bassist:
