custom pickups

    hey,
    can anyone point me in the way of a custom pickup maker, preferably someone who works with active pickups and preamps. any help is great.

    I had good luck using Jim at crcoils.com. He rewound me a Jazz pickup and he makes his own custom pickups. Not sure about active pickups. He does good work and was cheap when I used him 6 months ago. I think he's raised his prices recently.

    Seymour Duncan as a custom shop. You can order just about anything... if you have the money that is!

    Aero makes great pickups. You are looking at $600 minimum for a custom order. At least that has been my experience.

    JP's pickups are made by Kent Armstrong.

    Aero's can be had for $200 a piece - that is what i paid for each of mine.

    I would suggest you contact the Luthiers Access Group; someone there has to be winding
    some serious pups.
     
  8. Actually it's Kent's son, Aaron Armstrong who winds them for me ;)
    He's located in the UK.
