After a ton of research, I've finally decided to order a Peavey Cirrus fretless 5 early in the new year.

Things I have decided on are:
    Model: 5-string (left handed)
Colour: Hand rubbed oil with gloss finish
    Fingerboard: Ebony
    Fret option: Fretless
    Inlay: No inlays
    Hardware: Brushed gold
Electronics: 3-band EQ with variable mid-range control

I could do with some help in choosing the body wood and top wood however.

I prefer heavier basses, so I'm leaning towards walnut or mahogany for the body, but don't know how different these two might sound.

I'm really not sure about the top wood though. I love the look of the claro walnut and wenge tops, but don't really know how they'll sound on top of walnut/mahogany.

I'm looking for a more modern and hi-fi sound, rather than traditional tones. I'm after a dark and very growly tone with a slightly more punchy mids rather than boomy lows.

Anyone got any advice or experience with Cirrus woods to go with a fretless ebony fingerboard?

I've done a few searches, but most of what I've found relates to fretted sounds, and I can't find much at all about how the claro walnut top sounds...
