I just got these pics from Nino. The specs of this bass took a month to work out, and just changed again! :) I decided, at Nino's suggestion, to not put on a matte black pickguard or a control plate, so I can show off that beautiful top. So here are the "original" specs:

    5 String Jazz styles bass
    Bubinga body w/flamed maple top
Gloss finish w/ clean line and Solid Gloss black back
    Contoured Heel
    Wenge Neck
    24 fret Ebony Fretboard
    Black Lam Veneer on Headstock
    4+1 peghead
    Jumbo SS Frets
    Bone Nut
    black UL tuners
    Black Hipshot B bridge
    EMG 40J PU's
    Sadowsky Pre
    Black Schaller strap locks
    matte black pickguard
    matte black control plate
    knob order: Volume/pan/treble/bass
    jack on side of body

Tell me what you guys think.

That top is amazing! Good idea to not add a pg or control plate. I can't wait for the finished pics.

  7. Beautiful!

Love that top... I say no guard, but if you really want one, go with the clear gaurd like bikeplate suggested so you can see that top.

    Love the neck too

What kind of tone are you going for with your body/neck/fb wood selection? I like the view from the rear!

I once had impure thoughts. Oh, and I pluck my ear hair.
If I ever see you playing that on stage, I may have to resort to a life of crime.... :D

Nino or AmPb100, do you know about how heavy the bass is going to be? I love those woods (had a bubinga-bodied FBB that sounded killer), but I'd be afraid to use them on a large jazz style body.

I bet that's going to sound incredible and it looks great!

    Thanks,
    Marshall

That is going to look killer. I say go for no pickguard also, but it is up to you.

I'd definitely but a guard and control plate on there, but that's just me.
