Listening to this album in detail has certainly given me a greater appreciation for both Alan Gorrie and Hamish Stuart, and for playing with a pick. Some of these lines are simply incredible - and they sing while playing them. I've tried to keep it to 4 bars per line, but some places there will be 2, 3, 5, or even 6. Many of these songs have an additional bar here and there. I've also tried to limit each song to 2 pages, but I felt that would sacrifice too many details. Which is not to say everything is 100% correct - I'm sure I've made errors. If you do notice any, feedback is greatly appreciated.
Thanks! I tried learning this entire LP back in 1976...I had (still have the Songbook. Very lame, but it was a little help). BTW, Hamish Stuart plays bass on the 1st tracks- "Cut The Cake" "Schoolboy Crush"
Yup, I basically saw those videos and "got the love" so to speak. I was not prepared for their accent, despite knowing they are from Scotland. It's also very cool that you have an (presumably) "official" songbook, all I ever saw in stores around here was Metallica and the Beatles. Would you mind taking a photo of one of the songs? I'm curious to see what's in it
I also have the Songbooks for AWB (same lameness as Cut The Cake) & Soul Searching...a little more detail & help- BTW, Hamish Stuart's bass breakdown in "Cut The Cake" (from the Live album &, IIRC, from that Soul Train performance) is pretty much the bass part to the verses in "Soul Searching".
I use Sibelius; I got a free license (aka paid for by someone else) in school. Musescore is free to use, and as far as I can tell it does mostly everything that Sibelius (or Finale) does.
