I'm considering putting a Hipshot D-tuner on my fretless, but I plan on using nylon tapewound strings from here on out. Will this tuner have a negative affect on the nylon strings? I know it will make the string more slack when it's dropped, but will it still have enough tension to sound clean?

Any help would be appreciated, and I'm sorry if this post doesn't make any sense, 'cause I'm not so sure it makes any sense to me.

I never saw this thread before.

Here are my thoughts based on experience.

I think it should have no different effect than it would on regular strings.

I had Fender nylon tapewounds on my fretless and dropped the tunning down a whole step to D a few times, and It played pretty much the same as any other set of strings would.

Only thing I could think that might happen is the outer wrap wearing away from rubbing against the tunning post, but I doubt that is a real issue.

The tapewounds are still metal on the inside, so the outer wrap shouldnt make a huge difference.

    Peace
    Nick
