There are a differences in all the strings, but they all suit "rock".

The Slowound's are warm and bright, and retain there tone for quite a long time. They are great strings, but they aren't too cheap.

The XL's tend to be the "standard" strings. They are bright out of the package, but tend to mellow out quickly. They are a very warm sounding string. I think they sound very nice when they have bee worn in(for rock anyways).

The Prism's are a very bright, and very long lasting stainless steel string. They cut through very well, and if you are looking for clarity, they would do the job nicely.

    Just my opinions on these....

  3. I switched to D'Addario ($16 CAN) from Blue Steel ($80 CAN) for my metal work because of their brightness and growl. Never regretted it. Tried all but the slow wounds so far and yup! Any will do ya :)
