I have 4 Brand New Unopened Tapered Long Scale .130 B's (XLB130T).
$22 shipped for the 4
Do these fit 35 inch scale?
Yep, they are long scale.
The actual answer is "It depends".
I play nothing but Spector. I also use nothing but D'Addario strings.
These are clearly the older packaging D'Addarios when the "Long Scale" strings had an outer wrap that was about 1/3" shorter than current stock.
Don't know about your bass, bassguyky48. But the outer wrap on these older LS's will not go cleanly (if at all) over the nut on a 35" scale Spector.
When D'Adarrio started using the new packaging a couple of years ago, they also started extending the outer wrap (and I lobbied hard for this)
about 1/3" on their LS strings so that 35" scale basses similar in design to Spector could use them.
The reason was the outer wrap on their SL (Super Long) strings was actually too long and would wrap around the B string (and E on 35" 4 string)
post, thus causing tuning instability, etc.
I'm surprised Adam, being an endorser for both D'Adarrio and Spector, seems unaware of this (unless there's something weirdly different about the tapered cores).
I was actually looking to buy these until I saw they were the old stock/style.
Yep, I have had these for some time and completely forgot why they were shelved. I only have US Spector 5ers now (one 34" in the mix) and the new bridges will take a regular 130 so I spaced the issue. I only used these on my live Euro basses back in the day and rarely played the B if at all. They were loud metal gigs so any slight tuning issues were of no concern. So you are right, the outer wound will barely reach the inside edge of the nut on a 35" Spector.
With the taper core these would be fine for your 34" scale 5. Using something different these days?
Nope, they all have the upgraded bridge now so I'm still using xl170's with a standard 130 B
