D'Addario's for Essex Jazz SJB62QMD?

  1. Picked bass up locally from CL and first thing I need to replace is strings.

Chromes for a nice smooth jazz sound, right? Will ECB81's be too much tension on the SX-SJB62?

    ECB84 (local GC is out)
    G - 37.6
    D - 45.2
    A - 43.7
    E - 38.4
    164.9 lbs

ECB81 (too much tension for essex jazz)
    G - 45.7
    D - 52.0
    A - 43.7
    E - 38.4
    179.8 lbs

EXL170 (let's just get something on and start playing - gotta sound warmer than my current yamaha RBX4-A2)
    G - 42.8
    D - 51.3
    A - 42.0
    E - 36.5
    172.6 lbs

By the way, I'm open to other options, too...

  2. Nice, smooth sound with low tension? Fender Tapewounds fit that IME. And try juststrings.com, definitely going to have more/better options than GC.
