First off, I know a few of you Bass Central guys are here, so let me say thanks for the great service when I visited today. You guys are fantastic! I walked in, said my budget is X dollars, I prefer 4 string, whaddya got? Seconds later, I was hooked up to an amp with about six basses to try! Ok, I guess I have been living under a rock because I have never seen such an array of lovely high-end basses before today. Such lovely Wals, Alembics, and Warwicks.....oh my. The real standout today was the Lakland Joe Osborne. Sunburst finish, 4 string, passive. Very nice! The Warwick Thumb Bolt On was an unpleasant surprise - neck too thick. MTD Kingston was very nice. Anyway, thought I would share these pointless ramblings.
too bad it's in flordia....all i hear is excellent things about there. I would love to go. Oh well. If you's ever wanna expand, you can always make a store in... <--- Hey just a suggestion!
Darn, you picked a day I was off!!! Well, you probably met Neal, he's Dirty Road Cola here on the boards. Glad you had a good experience, which one did you leave with? Next time you're gonna stop by, let me know!! (That goes for all y'all... )
I was just in Florida a few days ago! I briefly thought of Bass Central, but I didn't know it was in Florida! Ain't nothin in Texas but mars music and guitar center (which I ain't dissin' or nothin', but the selection isn't as good as a freakin' store full of basses!) Boy to I feel like crap.....
Unfortunately, I did not find any basses that were in the "must have" category. The Joe Osborne was VERY nice, though, and may eventually be a part of my collection, but not in the immediate future. I mostly wanted to relate to all that this is a way cool bass place to visit and is worth the time to find it!
My Wife just ordered My Stingray 5 from them. I will be in the Tampa area in Jan I hope to stop in for a visit .
Where exactly is the Bass Central in Florida????? I think i will have to take a field trip there pretty soon.
Gard, maybe you can answer this for me. The Joe Osborne bass was very nice indeed, but had an odd sound quality to it. I swear it sounded almost like it was chorused. Is this a design factor? Strings? The bass had a very warm sound, but I couldn't help but wonder if the odd sound was normal or not.
