Dallas Fodera Alert!

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by Jeff Rader, Apr 20, 2002.

  1. For Fodera fans in the DFW area, Larry Morgan Music in Garland just received TODAY a very sweet Emperor 5 string with a set neck with a spalted top (not as nice as my Sadowsky spalted top, but not bad… ;)) I played it thru an Aguilar amp and a Bergantino 3x10 cabinet. Very nice!

They now have a Monarch 4 string and this Emperor with another on the way in a month or so.

Based on these two basses, I am changing my mind about Fodera. I had not been impressed with the 2 I had played before, but these are quite nice. Still not convinced they are worth the premium price, they have excellent workmanship and playability with a great tone.

Check ‘em out before they’re gone…

wowzers! Sounds sweet JR :) . Larry M's got Aggie amps and
Berg cabs?!? I better go...mow the grass - yeah, that's it!

Garland is much, much too far away from Plano anyways :p
  3. Hey, it's gonna rain today anyway - mow the grass tomorrow!

Wait... you live in Plano and you mow your own grass???? :D

Did I mention they have Epifani cabs, too... ;)

Translation: "Before they wind up in Jeff's "Gear" profile"

(One doesn't have to be clairvoyant to see this coming down the chute).
  6. Oh, Shut Up!

No Fodera in my near future... didn't like the top. ;)

...that and I have no money!

    ...although they did mention credit...

Naw, I don't like the top...

Looks like I need to go over to Larry Morgan. Hopefully Marcus won't be there.

Never had the pleasure of playing a Fodera.

    "Hopefully Marcus won't be there".

Amen to that brother! Can you say "opinionated"?

  9. Why, didn't you know if they don't sell it, it must be "flawed"?

Sorry the pics are not very good. But here is another one.
  16. No - yours I like! The one at LMs looked more like flat maple with lines running through it - not much color. Nice, but not like yours...

Thanks Jeff!! When I saw your Sadowsky...It was
so beaufiful it got me thinking about Spalted Maple
again. And when I saw this one on G-Guitars web site about a month ago I jumped on it real quick.

BTW...The reason I ask is ...David at Fodera said the Spalted Emperor 5 I have been drooling over
on their NAMM 2001 pix (the one Bill Bartolini is holding). It came from the same piece of wood as mine. Its somewhere in Dallas (I think).

I don't mind Marcus too much. Since they screwed up and didn't ship my leather gig bags for a week after they were going to, Marcus remembered that I was asking about Fodera string and he comped me a 5-string pack. He does cross his eyes when I talk about how much I like my Bag End cabs and my Aguilar GS410. He's very much into the Bergantino 112's which I really liked when I was there.

They also have the EBS350 and the EBS 410 cab. I really liked the tone of that setup. Marcus also said that they were expecting Nick Epifani's new preamp. I'd like to get a chance to give that one a try. I should be back in Dallas in September so maybe then. I was just glad that I got to play the Monarch. It was a very fine bass and one that I wouldn't mind having if it was about $2000 cheaper. ;)

I just read this post and saw that you play at Grace! That's a Great church, I visited there a few months ago for a church media event, but the bass player that saturday was playing something that i think was a Marcus Miller fender. The next week I take off from my own church, I'm going to come out a catch you playing.

Be good, and say hey to Bryan Ramsey for me!
