Ive liked the Misfits for years. I really havent heard all that much from Danzig to tell you wether or not I like them. I ordered some patches from angryyoungandpoor.com and got a Samhain patch for free, again never heard of them though.

A band in Seattle does "Mother" in a very entertaining way, they play it jazz.. swing ride on the drums, walking bass, and the guitarist goes crazy with the Pat Metheny-esque chords. It's brilliant.

  4. All i no is the bass player 4 danzig ,Lazie is involved in porno shooting (director) and is involved in the extreme world wrestling league lol.

  5. I'm a huge misfits fan, and I like some of DANZIG, never really got into Samhain.

I was privileged to see Danzig play in Fort Lauderdale several years ago. The band had a different bassist then, whose name I don't recall, but it wasn't Lazie. The drummer had one heck of a drum kit including tympanies.

Glen Danzig looked like he hit the weight room regularly and could have given HHH a run in those days. I remember Danzig had a huge belt on. Well, it did look almost like a wrestling championship belt. He was a heck of a singer. I was very impressed and I did like the first album of Danzig.

I'm not, however, a Misfits fan. And what was that wierd fiasco with the wrestler Vampiro who joined the group temporarily at the same time the Misfits became WCW "wrestlers"? Then one of the Misfits accused Vampiro of theft of Misfits shirts and other chicanery and expelled him from the band. That whole episode was really bizarre.

I was embarassed for the Misfits when they went on WCW. I guess I should rephrase what I said; I liked the old Misfits.

I never knew the Misfits went on WCW,thats funny!
The bassist on the first cd is Chuck biscuits, strange name huh?

  9. One of my favorite punk rock stories involves the Misfits. Evidently, towards the end Jerry and Glenn weren't getting along too well. Jerry supposedly hired three or four goons to jump Glenn and beat him up. According to the story, the exact opposite happened - Glenn ended up beating up all of the goons, and then beat up Jerry for good measure.

I can't guarantee the veracity of this story, but it's amusing nonetheless.

  10. Glenn Danzig and Hank Rollins both spend a good amount of time in the gym, but neither are pro lifters.

yeah, i like danzig. i liked him with the misfits more though

  13. Could you imagaine the carnage of a Triple Threat match between Glenn Danzig, Henry Rollins, and Peter Steele? Whoa.

  14. danzig are not bad; i really dig twist of cain. As for the misfits, man they used to rule. I haven't heard any of their new stuff, but I really like tunes like american psycho and die die my darling. Classics!

  15. The Misfits have been faves of mine for ages, too. I love the old stuff a lot more than the new, but American Psycho really did floor me. Michale's voice is the only one that could have possibly filled in for Glenn's. However, I saw them live here in SD in the summer of '99, and Mike had bronchitis...or, that was the excuse, anyway. All I can say is...eeeesh. Old 'Fits, old 'Fits, old 'Fits!!!

As for Danzig... That band is a completely different animal, same guy in the front or not. I really like Glenn's tunes and have almost longer than the 'Fits. As a matter of fact, "Her Black Wings" is a big fave, as is "She Rides." I haven't had much of a chance to get into Samhain, but I plan to.

Hey. Anybody ever hear of Sardonica?

  16. I just saw them.. oh my they ruled. Glenn is still kicking after all these years. My favorite songs are probably "Soul on Fire", "Twist of Cain", "She Rides"... wait make that everything from the first album. Which album should I get next? I want either II, III or IV but cant decide.

  17. Oh yeah! I saw them back in the "How the Gods Kill" days. Danzig is fun stuff. I still love "LeftHandBlack". Prong is touring with them right now.

Funny how everytime someone brings up his name, Hank Rollins and fighting always come up too. Glenn is pretty short though, his old guitarist could have benched more than both glenn and hank.
That guy had biceps as big around as bowling balls and stood about 6'5".
Glenn was wearing something like a leather scuba suit, and his sweat was pouring out of the sleeves and would hose me everytime he swung his arms around. Bleh.

  18. Haha yeah he is pretty short. But he's pretty damn muscular too.. could be from steroids though. When I saw them, Glenn was wearing these weird spiky black clawed gloves. Scary stuff. Luckily I didn't get hosed with sweat... I caught a water bottle that he threw which was pretty cool.

On a somewhat unrelated note, I didn't like Prong too much.

  19. BTW, correct me if I'm wrong, but I think American Psycho is new.
