"to me" it seems as though most of the life and tone of the basses and pickups are being EQ'd out. What's the signal chain as recorded... etc?

All of them sounds similar, dead and muffled. "to me"

read the last one. i got comments that the clips had different levels so this time i made a point to get all things equal.
  7. Not nearly as much difference as I expected, but that may be function of these crappy earbuds. I liked the Darkstar sound, but only barely more than the P.

They sound very much alike. ( I'm surprised )

Would love to hear these, with different strings.

The La Bella's have such a powerful tone.
They maybe over shadowing the pickups ?

I had a USA Decade with "Darkstars" It sounded nothing like your bass.

This time around I think the Darkstars sound deeper and thicker.

I suspect that in the hands of a sympathetic recording engineer, either bass would do very nicely.

But now you've got me GASsing for Darkstars. So thanks a lot... :D
