Being a longtime fan of Carl Thompson basses, and knowing that Darrin was a "student" of Carl's, I really like Darrin's basses. There's alot of CT flavor in there, I'd really love to own one someday. And he's thinking about making an "econo" line for us poor folks, starting at $1500 barebones. I think it's a great idea, I'd love one. Anyone own one of his basses? They look awesome. I'm in the same position as Kristjankisi, but also think the wait's gonna be worth it! My Z5 will be a fiver - spalt/quilt maple top and back over alder, scroll horn with carved ball, trans red, single Nordstrand MM5 pup, Aguilar pre, clean ebony fretboard over figured maple neck.
