And I don't mean taking one for dinner and a movie.

I'm trying to tell the date of manufacture by the serial number. In particular, if the serial number starts with S + six digits (04 being the first two digits), when was it made? Can I assume it means 2004?

The Fender web site doesn't have a listing for CIJ Fenders starting with S (it ends at R). I know the Reissues were introduced in 2002, so obviously it has to be 2002 or later.

Haha, that is the first thing I thought of when I read the thread title. :D

Sorry I can't help you with what you need, so I guess this post is rather useless. :D

    Hi,

S should be 2005-2006 IIRC. Usually the letters are used for two years, sometimes more. 2002-2004 began with Q, 04-05 w/R, so S is most likely 05-06.

If you want to be absolutely sure, send email to Fender customer relations - I've dealt w/them a few times & they've been very prompt on inquiries.

We need a Mustang club here. :)

    Thanks Guys -

I knew the headline would catch your attention!

GT. I have one on the way. It's white with a Tort pickguard. I'm thinking of changing the pickguard though, since I'm not crazy about Tort. I'll live with it for a while though before I do anything.

    Cool! Good info here.

Sorry, this thread fell by the wayside for me. How are you digging your mustang?

I didn't like the tort much either - ended up w/the white pearl PG on mine, looks pretty.

    Great bass! :)
